We ensure the promotion of artists and writers, using a range of expressive arts in order to participate and encourage arts achievement and excellence across our area and promote this work further a field. This focus guides us to the basic principle of; finding exciting new writing, with special consideration to that which has a connection to the North West region.


Our aim is to provide a company who can showcase work of the highest calibre of drama, arts and music making it exhilarating and invigorating by making an open creative process between writer, actor and director alike. Ribcaged Productions celebrates the importance of what change can come from powerful new theatre and how the writer is intrinsically part of bringing this force of exciting change. We take pride in our work being powerful, real and challenging often using true to life experiences to portray this drama. We work tirelessly to find new writing and playwrights who can change the way we think, feel and express ourselves. The long term aim of Ribcaged Productions is to launch the careers of writers and artists by helping them to gain the promotion and recognition of their work.


Since our creation in 2005, the last five years have seen us develop 6 new plays and have successfully showcased our work across the local region, across North West, in to Manchester and on into Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We have received excellent critical praise for this work in both local and national media as well as moving tributes from our audiences. We have successfully developed and cultivated a local audience who crave top quality performance, developing an extensive mailing list and local media relationship.

What is the structure of the company?


Ribcaged Productions’ core staff currently consist of an Artistic Director, a General Manager and two Creative Directors. The production team changes for each show and is co-ordinated by Deb Groves: info@ribcaged.co.uk. Acting companies are cast afresh for each project according to requirements (see below)


Do we accept unsolicited scripts?


We do accept unsolicited scripts. We are keen to find new writing and support writers. Please note that due to the large number of submissions we receive it can up to 3 months before you hear back from us. Please also note that Ribcaged Productions ltd generally produces 3 productions a year and has a programme planned up to 2011 and beyond; so though we may respond positively to your work, or offer advice and suggestions as to how you might progress, please do not assume this means we are necessarily willing or able to produce your play.


Scripts should be sent BY POST to our Artistic Director – Owen Phillips. 16 Mitchell St, Clitheroe, BB71DF. If you would like your script to be returned, please enclose an SAE with the appropriate postage, otherwise we will recycle it when we have finished with it. We cannot accept unsolicited scripts by email.


How do we recruit for our productions?


Actors – meet us at open auditions

Four times a year we’re going to be holding open auditions for actors, usually in the North West.  Send an email to info@ribcaged.co.uk with 'AUDITION MAILING LIST' in the subject header, and a little bit about why you'd like to work with Ribcaged, and you'll receive information nearer to the time of the next audition cycle.


Designers – come and meet us

Companies – invite us to your shows

Do Ribcaged Productions take people on work experience placements?

Ribcaged offers occasional production-based placements throughout the year. Availability will depend on our activity at the time. Whilst we cannot promise that there will be a production in progress, we do try and give people a good insight the workings of a touring company.
